Plasma cutting applications

Oxiplant offers high-definition plasma cutting services, guaranteeing finishes with maximum precision. In addition, our equipment incorporates a marking service, which facilitates work on folding guidelines, boiler developments, etc.

Plasma cutting can be performed on any type of metal, being especially suitable for steel. There are many advantages to plasma cutting services, which is why this cutting procedure has become one of the most important in the industry. At Oxiplant, we are specialists in plasma cutting, which guarantees finishes with maximum precision.

Among the main applications of plasma cutting we can find:

  • Bevel cutting: Bevel cutting is the process of cutting a piece with an edge that is not perpendicular to the top of the piece. There are many types of beveled edges, the most common are V, A, X, upper Y, lower Y and K. This type of edge is necessary for different assembly processes, such as preparation for welding.
Although bevel cutting can be done manually, it is most common to use mechanized plasma cutting equipment. In addition, this equipment offers greater cutting precision and speed, increasing production.
  • Long-reach cutting and gouging: Long-reach cutting allows the user a longer reach for plasma cutting or gouging in hard-to-reach spaces.
Long-reach consumables are used to cut corners, channels, edges and flanges.
Plasma gouging can be used on any conductive metal and works similarly to plasma cutting.
One of the advantages of plasma gouging is that it is able to reduce the amount of noise and pollutants in the work environment. This type of cutting can be done manually, but it is most commonly done on fully automated CNC cutting tables.
Long-reach cutting is used for cutting corners, channels, beams with deep grooves, cutting edges and flanges, and can also be used to remove defects in weld beads, among others.
  • Surface finish cutting: High-definition plasma cutting allows us to cut delicate parts, with unusual shapes, parts of very thin material or with many details, or to cut materials that require high tolerance.
Cutting parts with these characteristics requires that the cutting process be capable of producing very thin kerfs. High-definition plasma cutting achieves the expected results.
